Iris and Will – Their Super Amazing Wedding!!!
Fast forward. I was sitting in
the reception hall, a great friend asked “How was the wedding?” and all I can
say was 4 words to sum it all up,
“Everything is so pretty”
The last wedding
I went to was a year ago, I was asked to sell my handcrafted goodies at the
fair-reception area. It was a quick one and I only got glimpses of it, the
other weddings well, was years ago as a flower girl when I wasn't even 10,
wearing hot and itchy silk dress.
I know weddings,
yes I saw them – on the internet. On some days, I find myself spending away my
hours on vimeo, a video website wherein known wedding videographers post their collection
of work. I was there mostly to study the video editing skills and look for the
event details as it crossed my mind to try the events field. But as videos in
hd will started to load, I get a glimpse of what weddings in this day and age
will feel like, how love might look like, sadly 3 minutes was all I got.
A few weeks ago,
I stare at our refrigerator for good 5 seconds, a ref magnet with a date of “10.14.14”
was coming close. The ref magnet of Iris and Will, given months ago, a pre-nup
portrait of them sitting in a park bridge in US, the day is finally near.
As my cousin’s
Iris wedding day started getting closer and closer, I can’t help but feel
excited for her. I remember liking her Instagram and Facebook posts of wedding day
countdowns and preparation
Since my cousin
moved to the U.S, we kept in touch with social media, liking each other’s post and
comment especially on the funny ones. When she visits, there always have to be
a get-together. That’s when I met Will, maybe about a year and a half ago, when
they visited the Philippines. I remember he was
charming! He was so open and comfortable in meeting Ate Iris’ relatives,
I liked him then I can see how they really got a along.
For a girl, we
imagined weddings as a dreamy, special and most beautiful event a woman can
have. And I’m telling you, this wedding lived the dream.
I’ve been to the
Transfiguration Chapel of Caleruega in Nasugbu, Batangas on a college retreat, it
is a sought after wedding church having to reserve at least a year before the
wedding date. I remember sitting inside, prayed in the silence and stayed for a
few more minutes and looked around, thinking it really is a real nice church
for a wedding. A small church atop of a hill, brick walls, jalousie windows,
pine trees outside, green terrain, cool breeze, nice view of the hills and a
bit closer to the sky and clouds.
Walking up the
stairs, my cousin has the perfect bride get-up, a Vera Wang white dress, wide bejewelled
silver belt. To complete the outfit, is Will’s gift to bride, a fuchsia pink a
customized Manolo Blahnik shoes!

The doors opened,
she came in and butterflies started flying, a good few seconds stopped and everyone
held their breath. Smiles and tears followed after. Everyone anticipated this moment
and it was every bit perfect.
Weddings vows were read and it wonderfully summarized the love Iris and Will always have. I remember Ate Iris, saying she’ll always play xbox with Will – now that’s really love. Hahaha :) The church ceremony was graced by a live pianist, violinist, and singer, belting songs of love and some Taylor Swift songs.

I was seeing
before my eyes a majestic celebration. I saw my Uncle Loy dancing and grooving!
It was a joyous reception at Splendido, Tagaytay. Rj Ledesma (who was the famous
Royal Tru-Orange kid back in the days and now a book author) to provide a very
energetic hosting, with his witty lines A naughty game of best kissing couples
from the guests, lots of laughing. Exquisite dishes, flowing liquor drinks and how
can I forget the tasty pistachio soup and those little dessert bars of cream
cheese cakes? Oh and the mini cheese bar!
Hues of pink and dark blue, a cool match of wedding color. Table centerpieces were filled with white tulips, red and pink roses with white pearl in clear jars. Little paper cut butterfly shapes to compliment the flowers, icing details adorned the towering cake and of course, a red carpet.

Oh and they have a Same Day Edit
video! Wow, just wow. This is the videos I spend hours away watching online.
Really amazing, watch it here!

After the pictures and the
videos, the live band played in the background and dancing started. To end the
event, a blast of fireworks lit up the night sky, igniting with colors, like
light dancing to the beat.

For my wedding gift, I can’t help but sew them a bride and groom themed couple keychains. Tee hee. <3 |
I
met a lot of relatives I haven’t seen in years! We got together, talked and
introduced me to other more relatives. It was a a great night, everyone
dancing, laughing and having a real good time. All of us came that far and what
we got was nothing than we expected, the best life has to offer. Even if I have
to walk barefoot with my red pumps in my hands as we go down the parking lot
hihi. :D
It’s my first
time to blog something like this and it was really a good writing journey. This
is basically about how an ordinary day can feel as every bit magical. One of
those rare times when time suspends to give way to a new phase, a new journey
of love, to a new life together. How can one couple from New Jersey-New York, cross
countries, continents and travel maybe 8,500 miles to celebrate a wonderful day
and cherish it forever. It’s when we dare, when we risk making this world a
better place by filling it with love, one wedding at a time.
To quote the song from their
video, Rather Be by Clean Bandit
“Make it everlasting so
nothing's incomplete. It's easy being with you, sacred simplicity. As long as
we're together, there's no place I'd rather be”
*I’m so happy for you cuz Iris and
Will! It was great to get reunited, thank you for being so welcoming and fun to
talk too! Till next time! Bisita ako dyan! Wink wink ;) haha!
